Yoruba ethnic group . Her father was the high chief of Oke-Odan, an Egbado village in western Nigeria, till he was killed in 1848 when King Gezo of Dahomey , one of the
notorious slave raiders in the 19th century , raided his village. Sarah’s parents and siblings whose names are unknown were killed in the raid which turned Sarah, an Egbado princess, into a slave. Many of the villagers captured during the raid were made slaves and sacrificed to the gods of Dahomey but fortunately for Sarah, she was saved by the quick intervention of Captain Frederick E. Forbes , a British naval officer who was on a visit to Dahomey kingdom to persuade King Gezo to abolish slave trade. Captain Frederick E. Forbes persuaded King Gezo to present Sarah (then Aina) as a gift to Queen Victoria, he said: “ She would be a present from the King of the Blacks to the Queen of the Whites. ” King Gezo agreed and thus Sarah’s life was spared and subsequently she was named Sarah, Forbes, the captain’s surname and Bonetta which was the name of his ship (HMS Bonetta).

On the 9th of November, 1850, Captain Frederick Forbes took Sarah to Great Britain to meet Queen Victoria at Windsor castle. The Queen admired Sarah’s intelligence and ability to learn quickly. Even Captain Frederick wrote: “ She is a perfect genius; she now speaks English well, and has great talent for music… She is far in advance of any white child of her age in aptness of learning, and strength of mind and affection…” Shortly after, Captain Frederick Forbes died and so Sarah was sent to the Schoen family in Palm Cottage, Gillingham. Queen Victoria adopted Sarah as her goddaughter and sponsored her education. Being the Queen’s goddaughter, Sarah had unlimited access to Windsor castle like other members of the royal family. Shortly after Sarah began to live with the Schoen family, she developed a health problem due to the damp weather of Britain. Queen Victoria arranged for her migration to Sierra Leone to continue her education at the Female Institution, a CMS school in Freetown where she excelled in music and her academics. In 1855, Sarah returned to Great Britain.

In January 1862, Sarah Forbes Bonetta, now 19 years old, attended the wedding of the Queen’s eldest child, Princess Royal Victoria, as a guest. Seven months later, she was offered a marriage to Captain James Labulo Davies , a 31-year-old wealthy Yoruba businessman who lives in Britain. Sarah was reluctant to accept the offer due to reasons known to her but she eventually accepted after much persuasion. The wedding took place in August 1862 at the St. Nicholas Church in Brighton, England. It was such an extravagant one; dignitaries from different parts of the world were in attendance.

The new couple moved back to Africa and settled in the town of Badagary in Lagos, Nigeria. Shortly after her marriage, Sarah Forbes Davies had her first daughter and requested for permission from Queen Victoria to name her Victoria. The Queen granted the permission and also adopted baby Victoria as her goddaughter. In 1867, Sarah and her daughter visited the Queen then returned to Lagos where she had two more children named Arthur and Stella. Sarah was diagonised with tuberculosis and later died on August 15, 1880 at the age of 37. She was buried in Funchal, Madiera Island, Portugal. It was such a sad moment for her family. Queen Victoria wrote in her diary, “ Saw poor Victoria Davies, my black godchild, who learnt this morning of the death of her dear mother ”. Queen Victoria took good care of Sarah’s children and maintained close contact with them. Till today, the decendants of James Labulo Davies and Sarah Forbes Bonetta Davies lived in England, Sierra Leone and Lagos, Nigeria.

Yung6ix has been one artist who has refused to stay irrelevant or off the buzz for too long and gladly, this is for the right reasons musically save for when he had a run in with Akpororo.

The release Of High Star was a high point of my year as I had been looking forward to his witty lines in a long tracklist.

The High star album is basically moving with the trend as most songs are based on the in thing now;Trapping.
To be honest, Yung6ix is one rapper than van rap on 5 songs straight about his swag and still get away with it and basically this album was more about hid "doings", "swag" and what have you.

I have to admit, it was rare to see the witty and intelligent Puns we saw in the 6 O'clock album and even the collaboration with Oritse Femi on this one which was somewhat inspirational, isn't as mind blowing as the past collaboration.

Don't get me wrong, High Star is a great album, but 6 O'clock still remains my favorite Yung6ix album of all time.

Nairatunes : Let's get to know itztega
ItzTega: Owivri Oghenetega, a student of Accra institute of Technology, currently based in Ghana and popularly known by his stage name ItzTega. An artiste who hails from Delta State, Nigeria and is tremendously forging a unique reputation for himself with the recent release of his first Single, Letter to The Mentors with Emperor.
Repping D.C.M.G alongside label mates Emperor and Pryma, ItzTega is popularly known for the recent released song #Letter2TheMentors alongside Emperor.Which got a Retweet from MI abaga in less than 24hrs prior to its Release.

Nairatunes : What is your music background?
ItzTega: Growing up I was just a kid who was aware of every popular music and could sing along to every hit song then, also had an elder bro who loved listening to 2pac, bone thugs, and 50 Cent he was a core hip hop fan so that influenced my musical background majorly

Nairatunes: Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, music is what I want to do

?

ItzTega: Yes like I said growing up I started writing flows to get off boredom as I progressed I developed a bond with music especially rap songs influenced me while growing up, and I always felt like recreating something better and extra ordinary anytime I listened to my favorite rap song, so I started writing flows just for leisure and I developed My writing skills as time went by, the more I did the more I became Better but still didn't see it as my thing until I recorded my first track "Winner" the positive feedback I got motivated me to take that bold step, I knew I could it I just believed I could

Nairatunes: As a rap artist Which famous rappers do you admire ?
ItzTega: As a rap artist I admire legendary rappers such as 2pac, jay-z, Nas, lil wayne just to name a few, locally I admire legendary rappers such as MI, mode9, Jesse jagz, ice Prince just to name a few

Nairatunes: But who really influence your music
ItzTega: I'd say one person who influenced my music alot would be Kendrick Lamar, he is my role model

Nairatunes: How do you separate yourself from other artists?
ItzTega: ItzTega it's not like the everyday artist who just records a song and puts it out for the world to hear, every song I make is inspired, tells a story or portrays an expression that an average individual is able to relate to and understand

Nairatunes: Who do you want to work with in the future?
ItzTega: I'm open to new ideas and creativity so I can work with anyone but specifically I wish to work with the likes of Jesse jagz, ice Prince, patoranking, milli and MI

Nairatunes: Talking about your latest project your working on ,Joint collaboration with Emperor.why choose "The Truth" as the title of your Ep?

ItzTega: I and Emperor meet at AIT ghana,he was already into music then and was already working on his mixtape "Grind or Die" the kings edition. We both did freestyles together and decided to come out with something more creative ,letter to the mentors was a collaborative idea from both of us The idea was widely accepted by our management ,the producer and even down to some close friends. Me and Emperor really felt the energy we put into the song, so we started planning on dropping an Ep .
The name of the Ep "The Truth" came about when we took a peek into the entertainment industry and discovered thousands of artist and entertainers most seem to know what they are doing but don't, nowadays anyone can go to a studio and record anything pay a blogger and it's online but "The Truth" is more than that it's an expression of truthful feelings from two prodigies on their way to glory"Nothing but The Truth"

Nairatunes: What should your fans expect from your forthcoming Ep
ItzTega: Firstly the public should expect nothing but the Truth, something true and unique and totally new to the Nigerian entertainment scene. A true expression and story of two prodigies trying to make a difference

Nairatunes: Give a shout out...

ItzTega: S/o to my fans, friends and family who have always supported me since Day one, A special s/o to Emperor, Chibuzor,Mascoboy and Nog_GH for their motivations and support and also A big Shout out to my Mum, the female version of me, for her prayers, advice and support.
Praiz aka Mr Rich and famous finished 2nd runner up at the maiden edition of MTN project fame and from thence his career has been a smooth ride to the top of the RnB genre of nigeria's music industry. He has had top RnB singles like 'Rich and Famous' but most recently has had success with commercial tunes like 'Sisi' ft. Wizkid and 'Harder' ft. Patoranking.
Both are great artistes but if you were to make a choice, who would you prefer?
In an industry which is fast becoming saturated with nudity and sexual expressiveness as a mode of trending and gaining widespread acceptance and recognition, it is not surprising that many upcoming artiste albeit, more significantly established artistes now prefer to showcase over the top sexuality through their lyrics and music visuals as a means of carving a niche for themselves in the industry.
From MAHEEDA's Sexy Bad Girl to CYNTHIA MORGAN's German Juice to JHYBO's Lomo and even the infamous OLAMIDE, PHYNO and LIL KESH's Ladi, it is evident that there is a casual vibe about how "dirty" one can make their music and get away with it and even get more "love" from it.
However in this genre of lewd music, one name is beginning to stand out. Without resort to his old works, let's talk about the most recent offerings like "TESOJUE" with a lot of sexually driven lyrics and an 18+ video to "SKILASHII" and most recently "KPOMO" which caps it all, it seems REMINISCE is fast taking up the crown as Nigeria's most lewd rapper and musician and this new found love for been "raw" seems to be paying the bills as he is getting more recognition these days and isn't relenting.
Is there any other artiste there who is dropping more 'matured content' materials than REMINISCE?
Funny enough, it seems we are the most hypocritical people on earth, as we enjoy more of these songs and videos with 'mature content' rather than the normal hip-hop tunes from REMINISCE. Well as long as it pays and works for him, who are we to judge. But then a certain ease has to be taken with the way such contents keep been released by REMINISCE, it could get effing boring! Or is it getting? Well, I'll drop my pen at this juncture, and I would love to know if you agree with me that REMINISCE is officially Nigeria's most lewd artiste of 2015.

1. Timi Kay
The 22 year old is an upcoming PH City rapper who has been
making lowkey waves around the Port Harcourt

the person who featured two of the #Aluu4 victims Tipsy

single; Heart of the City. Also, a student of Uniport, this
rapper also appears on Leriq's groundbreaking album and is
one of Uniport biggest imports in the making.

2.Forbz Zhilah
This handsome Mechanical Engineering student who is
currently under the management of Creptunes Recording is
a well recognized face in the University of Port Harcourt's
music scenes as he has performed alongside notable names
like Ice Prince. He has also had collaborations with top
music acts like SolidStar and he most recently appeared in
the Uniport Cypher as well as dropped a latest video for his
smash single "If I Hear". He is definitely one to watch out for.

3. Onosz -This Uniport student is undoubtedly a pinnacle of vocal
talent and his 'singability' has taken him close to the top as
he has had collaborations with Burnaboy(Smoke some
weed), Timi Kay, Deewone. His hit single , "Circulate" is still
been aired in radio Stations and on the streets of PH city.
Most recently his biggest song is "Party like Fela".
4. Andy Blaze -This singer has been probably Uniport's most controversial
singer as he lays claim to the "boomba" trademark which
many believe is Patoranking's. With a single "Adam" this
student of History and Diplomatic Studies has already made
waves worthy of mention in Uniport and is on course for
bigger things in the Nigerian music scene in the future. He
also has a latest singing which is a cover for "post to be"
titled "Go Hard".

5. Elvis Grey -Elvis Grey is another budding talent from Uniport and he is
signed to AY the comedian's record label - "Premium Music"
and he also doubles as a producer. His song "oga at the top"
and "kilishi" are still major hits. Most recently his songs
Linda Ikeji and Killing me softly featuring Timaya have given
him more popularity amongst Nigerian music lovers. The 28
year old is a student of Geology.
Other notable mentions are - Benjizxy, Sam Kay, Excess Boy,
Bash, Supa Swank, Skillzxx, Hollaboi, TimiBlaze etc

"It just cannot work here. Its not commercial enough. Abeg we no fit dance to this one" This are parts of the many excuses most music lovers in this country often give when faced with the question of a Hardcore Hip-hop song making the waves. It is rather sad that great lyricists like Modenine, Boogey, Kahli Abdu etc do not get deserving accolades, praise and airtime for the kind of music they do as people say they are too hardcore and the acceptance of their Music into the Nigerian market has been always extremely poor.
I can't barely recall seeing a Mode9 video been played more than thrice on Music Tv Channels like Soundcity, Nigezie, Hip Tv etc but then once the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Khuli Chana, Anatii, AKA, Da Les etc drop a new song, and by this I mean "core" hip hop tune, our TV stations embrace them and play it a lot, our radio stations now have South African songs on their charts. This happens, nevertheless while our own "core" hip-hop songs are ignored and not appreciated. Recently an upcoming artiste, Ola Dips sang about this as he bared out his pains on this situation.
Please do not get me wrong as I find nothing wrong with the growth of South African music in our country as I have to admit most of their songs are top notch but then isn't it mere hypocrisy and almost another afro-neo-slave mentality that we cannot support ours but easily accept other's?

Burna Boy whose real name is Damini Ogulu broke into the Nigerian Music limelight in 2012 with "Like to Party" having previously taken over the Port Harcourt music industry with singles like "Abeg Abeg Abeg" and "Wombolombo" and he has not looked back ever since.
3 Years in the limelight and he is already a household name and although he has dropped countless chart-dropping singles, there is no denying the fact that he has a lower than appropriate number of awards and accolades for it.
It is rather shocking that Burna Boy's Nigerian Entertainment Award of 2013 Award as Best New Act Of the Year is the only notable award he has won as an artiste despite the glaring evidence of his songs' success and popularity across the continent.
He contentiously lost out at the 2013 Headies to Sean Tizzle for the "Next Rated Category" and most recently MTV Africa's snub of his efforts in their 2015 awards nominations list was one the artiste couldn't stomach anymore and he voiced out his frustrations. More surprising was the fact that these days he seems more of a South African artiste considering the amount of time he spends over there and 80% of his collaborations for sometime now has been with South African artistes. So, if MTV was pro-SA they should have atleast given him a nomination.
He has been nominated in the Best Reggae/Dancehall category at this year's Headies and one cannot securely place a bet on him winning that award this year considering the opposition he faces in that category and considering the fact that acts like Patoranking and Cynthia Morgan have been busy getting to the nigerian "Streets" and solidifying their spots in the nigerian industry with songs, performances and collaborations while Burna Boy has been busy trying to break more into the South African market who nevertheless seem not to be giving him that much recognition.
Let's all hope Burna boy re-strategizes, re-evaluates and re-structure his Music offerings and his appeal to the Nigerian audience, also if possible employs the alleged 'man know man' certain artistes use to gain recognition because his kind of music which is uniquely styled deserves more accolades than he gets. He is definitely not one who deserves to be the Nigerian version of "R'Kelly and a Grammy award".
